A group of people, a topic for debate—the detention of a professional seducer—and Virginia García del Pino’s ever-watchful camera. Scam Romance is the culmination of these three elements, a live film in which the initial premise allows for a collective reflection on infatuations, romanticism, and other facets of the human heart. Shot over two weekends at the Cineteca de Madrid, the film updates and reformulates Pasolini’s inquiry into love to address relationships in the era of Tinder and Instagram, in a blend of sociology, anthropology, and cinema centered around the figure of that Casanova.
