Artefacto Sessions: Session One

Workshop | 2026

On 27 February 2026, we opened the doors of the laboratory to launch Artefacto Sessions, a new meeting format designed for those pushing the boundaries of audiovisual language through technology.

These sessions are intended for film-makers and artists who use computational models —with or without machine learning— as research tools within their cinematic practice.

We were looking for projects that challenged convention through:

  • The management and analysis of large volumes of archives.
  • Spatial and narrative exploration using 3D models.
  • The use of machine learning in social, economic, and political contexts.
  • The development of bespoke methodologies to visualise complex information.

In this first edition, we shared processes, questions, and findings from projects at various stages of development, ranging from the critical use of AI to the analysis of massive documentary archives. It was an inspiring day, where each participant presented their work to industry peers and received feedback to take their projects to the next level.

This is only the beginning of a space we were very much looking forward to launching.
